Locating Oil Tanks
Many property buyers and sellers, or owners who have lived in the same residence for many years, do not realize their residence has an existing oil tank. Until the 1990’s, oil was the primary method for home heating. Most of the time, oil tanks were stored underground and often abandoned upon conversion to natural gas. Unfortunately, these tanks can rust and leak over time, contaminating the soil and groundwater and creating an environmental hazard.
After signing up for a free quote, our personnel will conduct an interior and exterior inspection, performing an oil sweep of your property and the area around your home. Venture Tank Co. uses specialized equipment, specifically a Schonstedt inductive/conductive locator and tile probe, to perform these actions.
The Schonstedt tool is a magnetometer that identifies underground objects that contain iron. A tile probe is used to easily probe for the location of the tank. It is essential to use good location devices for detecting oil storage tanks to ensure that all parts of the tank or tanks are found.
After the visit and inspection, our technician will comprise a letter of findings and recommendations for next steps in the tank removal process.
