Soil Remediation – What is it?
Remediation is the “clean up” and removal of contaminants from soil or water sites. Unfortunately, oil tanks can rust and leak over time, contaminating soil and creating an environmental hazard. Property owners are required by the State of NJ to address the contamination in compliance with the NJDEP soil remediation standards.
Soil Investigation and Remediation
Soil remediation is required if the soil sample from a leaked tank fails inspection with levels above the allowable limit. If the levels of a collected sample are above NJDEP Standards, it needs to be immediately addressed to prevent further environmental hazards. The remediation process involves careful excavation and removal of contaminated soil from an affected area and disposing of waste in the proper facility.
